Clive Sinclair once wrote, "A sheet of paper may carry the jottings of an idiot or a sonnet by Shakespeare, but by itself it is nothing. In the same way a computer, however powerful it may be, is only what the programmer makes it."

No matter how great or ghastly the Spectrum was as a computer, it was how people utilised it that made it so memorable. Most of us at some point nosed about a few manuals and tried our hand at some programming, but we nearly all preferred the more accomplished efforts of others. Here are some interviews with a few of the programmers who were involved in the Spectrum's early years.
